World Premiere of Monod’s Organ Composition, Friday, March 3, 2017, at 8pm.
Walter Hilse will play the first performance of Jacques-Louis Monod’s Organ Composition at the Church of the Ascension, Fifth Avenue and Tenth Street, New York City as part of a tribute concert for Mr. Monod, presented by the Association for the Promotion of New Music (APNM) on Monod’s ninetieth birthday. He has been a leading composer-theorist of the avant-garde post-Webern school, who was stationed at Columbia University, New York City, in the 1960’s and 70’s. The remainder of the March 3rd program will consist of choral works by Monod and other composers associated with him down through the years.

Solo Organ Recital, Friday, January 13, 2017, at 7:30.
Walter Hilse will play an organ recital at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, Memphis, Tennessee. The program will include works by Bach, Couperin, Hilse, Mendelssohn and Widor. This will be part of a weekend of events sponsored by the Memphis Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Saturday will feature master classes in organ performance led by Dr. Hilse.

Walter Hilse will play his twenty-fourth annual program on the Bach at Saint Peter’s Series at Saint Peter’s Church, Lexington Avenue at 54th Street, New York City. The program will include Bach’s Canzona in D Minor, Trio Sonata IV in E Minor, and Canonic Variations on “Vom Himmel Hoch,” as well as a toccata by Girolamo Frescobaldi, and Charles-Marie Widor’s Symphonie Gothique (complete).
